bread gulab jamun recipe | instant gulab jamun with bread with step by step photo and video recipe. basically a quick and cheat version to traditional khoya gulab jamun recipe. in other words, breads are powdered to breadcrumbs which is then mixed with milk powder. it is then followed by the same procedure of khoya or milk powder gulab jamun. which is to deep fry in ghee and dip in sugar syrup. the advantageous of preparing jamuns from bread is no need to use baking soda.
this is a instant version of gulab jamun recipe with powdered breadcrumbs and milk powder. perhaps one of the easiest gulab jamun recipe out of all the variations. however, if you like your gulab jamun to be soft, than bread gulab jamun can be disappointing. bread is made of all purpose flour and when deep fried it tends to become hard. hence bread gulab jamun would be harder compared to milk powder gulab jamun or khoya gulab jamun recipe. but, trust me this can be easy alternative especially if you have some left over breads.
beside, some important tips for a soft and juicy bread gulab jamun recipe. firstly, try to use white sandwich bread for this recipe. i do not recommend wholemeal bread or atta bread forinstant gulab jamun. secondly, fry the jamun balls in a low flame. this holds good for traditional gulab jamun recipe too. moreover, i have not added baking soda for this recipe, but a pinch can be added to make it more fluffy. lastly, add a tsp of rose water or gulab jal to fulfill the rose or gulab essence. but it is completely optional and not mandatory.

Ingredients
for sugar syrup:
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 cup water
- 3 cardamom, powdered
- 1 tbsp lemon juice
for bread gulab jamun:
- 6 slices bread, white bread
- 2 tbsp full cream milk powder
- 1 tbsp cream
- 3-4 tbsp milk, warm
- ghee / oil for deep frying
Instructions
sugar syrup recipe:
firstly, in a wide pan take 1 cup of sugar.
further, to that add 1 cup of water and get to a boil.
then simmer for 4 minutes till the sugar syrup turns slightly sticky.
now add cardamom powder.
also add lemon juice to stop crystallization process.
cover and keep aside.
bread gulab jamun recipe:
firstly, cut the sides of 6 bread slices.
furthermore, blend to fine powder like breadcrumbs.
also add 2-3 tbsp of milk powder and a tbsp of cream.
crumble and mix well.
slowly add warm milk little by little and knead to a smooth and soft dough.
furthermore, make small balls greasing ghee to hands.
make sure there are no cracks on balls.
heat the oil or ghee on low flame to medium flame and when the it is moderately hot, fry the jamuns.
fry the balls on low flame stirring in between.
fry till the balls turns golden brown.
immediately, drop the hot jamuns into hot sugar syrup.
boil the sugar syrup for a minute after you add fried jamuns.
cover the lid and rest for 2 hours.
finally, bread gulab jamuns have doubled in size. serve warm with ice cream or cold garnished with few chopped nuts.

- also add lemon juice to stop crystallisation process.
- cover and keep aside.

- firstly, cut the sides of 6 bread slices. make sure to use white bread. brown bread doesn’t give nice golden colour to jamuns.
- furthermore, cut into pieces and take in a mixer grinder.
- blend to fine powder like breadcrumbs without adding any water.
- transfer the breadcrumbs into a large mixing bowl.
- also add 2-3 tbsp of milk powder. adding 3 tbsp of milk power makes jamuns more soft.
- further add a tbsp of cream. cream helps to give nice smoothness and taste to gulab jamun.
- crumble and mix well making sure its mixed well.
- slowly add warm milk little by little and knead well.
- knead to a smooth and soft dough.
- furthermore, make small balls greasing ghee to hands.
- make sure there are no cracks on balls. else there are chances for bread gulab jamun to break while frying.
- heat the oil or ghee on low flame to medium flame and when the itis moderately hot, fry the jamuns.
- fry the balls on low flame stirring in between.
- fry till the balls turns golden brown. drain and keep aside.
- immediately, drop the hot jamuns into hot sugar syrup. else jamuns wont absorb syrup, results to hard jamuns.
- stir and boil the sugar syrup for a minute after you add fried jamuns so that it absorbs and turns jamuns soft.
- cover the lid and rest for 2 hours. flame should be turned off.
- finally, bread gulab jamuns have doubled in size. serve warm with ice cream or cold garnished with few chopped nuts.
notes:
- firstly, use white bread for great colour and brown bread for healtier optuion.
- furthermore, use freah bread else it will not remain good for long time.
- additionally, never miss to add milk powder. else the jamuns turn hard.
- finally, bread gulab jamun turns soft and juicy when boiled in sugar syrup for a minute.
