Tutt, a longtime Lexington paving and excavating businessman, was found dead of natural causes yesterday at his home on Delong Road, according to a Fayette County coroner's report. He was 79.

Tutt was the founder of Tutt which began operating in 1953. He was a partner in and chairman of the board of the business at his death. Tutt whose trucks carry a saying he wrote "In a Rut? Call Tutt!" has paved roads, built sidewalks and the like for many Central Kentucky and Lexington construction projects, including Corporate Center and Leestown Industrial Park. Although he was seriously injured in a traffic accident about two years ago, Tutt remained relatively active in the business. "He worked his way to the the hard way," said Bill Meade, president of Lehman-Meade Co.
