Jeff Blair

Jeff Blair, 57, of Hager Hill, died Thursday, March 7, 2024, at Paintsville ARH Hospital.

He was born in Johnson County, June 16, 1966, the son of the late Elroy Blair and Mary Pack Blair.

In addition to his mother and father, Jeff was preceded in death by his first wife, Teresa; and one brother, Herbert Blair.

He is survived by his loving wife, Sandra Pennington Blair; his sister, Sandra Young and her husband, Doug, of Campbellsville; very special nephews, Casey Young and his wife, Cheris, and Corey Young and his wife, Jessica; great-nieces and nephews, Cayleigh Caleb, Addy and Vivi; his stepdaughter, Ashton Dempsey and her husband, Justin, of Lenore, W.Va.; and step-grandson, Myles.

Jeff retired from 7-Up Bottling Company. He was an avid golfer and a huge Tennessee Volunteers fan.

A celebration of life service will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, April 27, 2024, at Southside Freewill Baptist Church with Corey Young, Casey Young and Tim York officiating.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Phelps & Son Funeral Home of Paintsville.

George Green Jr.

George Herman Green Jr., 63, of Paintsville, died Tuesday, April 16, 2024, at Paintsville ARH Hospital.

A memorial service will be held at a later date to be announced by the family. There will be no public viewing or funeral service at this time.

Rosemary King, 50, of Thelma, died Wednesday, April 17, 2024, in Paintsville.

Barbara Long

Barbara Sue Long, 74, of Paintsville, died Wednesday, April 17, 2024, at Baptist Health in Lexington.

She was born in Johnson County, Aug. 31, 1949, the daughter of the late Holley Conley and June Conley.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Long was preceded in death by her husband, James Austin Long; her daughter, Michelle Lee Long; and several siblings.

She is survived by her son, James Edward Long, of Paintsville; her brother, James Conley, of Lowmansville; her sisters, Dora Trimble, of Oil Springs, Janie McKenzie and Delilah Castle, both of Wittensville; and her grandchildren, Courtney Ward, Anna Sue Long, James William Long and Sakura Dawn Long.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m., Monday, April 22, 2024, in the chapel of the Phelps & Son Funeral Home. Roger Hill officiated. Burial followed at the Conley Family Cemetery in Staffordsville.

Perry Music

Perry Music, 70, of Oil Springs, died Thursday, April 11, 2024, at Clark Regional Medical Center in Winchester.

He was born in Johnson County, Aug. 26, 1953, the son of the late Charles Gilbert Music and Edith Arlene Spradlin Music.

Perry is survived his loving wife, Georgia Ann Rice Music, of Oil Springs; his son, Carl Lemaster, and wife, Beth, of Hager Hill; his daughter, Perri Simmons and husband, John, of Oil Springs; his brother, Terry Music and wife, Melinda, of Hager Hill; three grandchildren, Connor Lemaster, Kylea Simmons and John Simmons; two step-grandchildren, Jackson Simmons and Joslyn Simmons.

Perry attended First Freewill Baptist Church of Paintsville.

Funeral services were held at 12 p.m., Saturday, April 13, 2024, in the chapel of Phelps & Son Funeral Home. Burial followed at Highland Memorial Park in Staffordville.

David Stambaugh

David Glenn Stambaugh, 71, of Staffordsville, died Saturday, April 20, 2024, at St. Mary's Medical Center in Huntington, West Virginia.

He was born in Johnson County, Aug. 12, 1952, the son of the late Estill Bowling and Delores Bowling.

In addition to his biological parents, he was preceded in death by his adopted parents, Joened Stambaugh and Emma Travis Stambaugh; one son, James David “Jamie” Stambaugh; one brother, Muriel Bowling; and one sister, Brenda Ogelsby.

David is survived by his loving wife, Debra Colvin Stambaugh; his stepdaughter, Fonda Lumbreras (Nick), of Staffordsville; his brother, Jackie Bowling (Sue), of Nippa; his grandchildren, Katie Lumbreras, Kody Lumbreras, Victoria Wright (Kyle) and Bobbie Rizzo; his great-grandchildren, Bailey Stephens and Lukas Wright; and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.

Funeral services were held at 1 p.m., Tuesday, April 23, 2024, in the chapel of the Phelps & Son Funeral Home. Jim Price and Brad Meadows officiated. Burial followed at Staffordsville Church Cemetery.

“Gene” Wilson

Leonard Eugene “Gene” Wilson, 82, of Meally, died Wednesday, April 17, 2024, at King's Daughters Medical Center in Ashland.

He was born in Lawrence County, Ohio, May 7, 1941, the son of the late Warren Wilson and Evelyn Thompson Wilson.

In addition to his mother and father, Gene was preceded in death by one son, Raymond Eugene Wilson.

He is survived by his loving wife, Trilba Estep Wilson; his children, Malynda “Mendy” Blakeman (Charles), of Ironton, Ohio, Audra Janene Fox (Eddie), of Milton, Darlene Combs (Lesley), of Tutor Key, Tammy Taylor (Jerry), of Thealka, Darita Daniel, of Thealka, Roy Daniel, of Thealka, and Dennis Wilson and special companion, Donna Davis, of Ironton, Ohio; his grandchildren, Marcus Stamper, Mitchell Stamper, Raymond Wilson, Jessie Wilson, Colton Fox, Caleb Fox, Stephanie Conley, Bryan Murray, Rhonda Lynch, Kim Robinson, Dawn Combs and Cody Combs; and his great-grandchildren, Caleb Robinson, Maddison Stamper, Marcus Stamper, Macee Stamper, Savannah Martin, Kyle Matusiewicz, Maddison Auxier, Brylee Murray, Jayce Conley, Amanda Taylor, Jessica Lynch, Montana Dillon, Karissa Blair, Kira Ratliff, Kalli Lewis, Keila Lewis and Isabella Combs.
